What is the difference between HellouOne and respond.io?
Both platforms bring a business's WhatsApp chats into a shared inbox, with AI agents and handoff to a person. The difference is in how they charge, what they do with voice and which channels they prioritize.
The table sums up the essentials. The respond.io data comes from its own pages, checked in November 2026 (see the sources at the end of this page).
| Criterion | HellouOne | respond.io (as of November 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A WhatsApp inbox for teams with text and voice AI agents in one product | An AI-powered customer conversation platform, with WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, email and web chat |

HellouOne writes this comparison and is an interested party. That is why the respond.io data comes from its public pages, with source and date, and why we include below a section on when respond.io may be a better fit. Prices and limits change: confirm them on their pages before you decide.
How do HellouOne and respond.io charge?
The two platforms measure price differently. HellouOne charges a monthly plan with agents included and adds any additional AI messages. respond.io charges a plan with users included and adds active contacts, additional users and AI credits, according to its pricing page as of November 2026 (see the sources). The table compares how each price works.
| Item | HellouOne | respond.io (as of November 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Billing period | Monthly, in US dollars, with no lock-in | The entry price is billed yearly; monthly billing costs more |
| What the plan includes | Agents included in each plan (1 on Starter, 3 on Team, 6 on Growth, 10 on Scale) and an AI agent in the plans with AI, with 2,000 AI messages on Starter | Starter with 5 users, Growth and Advanced with 10; Growth adds broadcasts, workflow automation, AI agents, an API and Zapier and Make integrations |
| What is charged extra | Additional agents (USD 12 a month on Growth and USD 10 from Scale), 1,000 additional AI messages for USD 30 and a one-time setup on Team (USD 100) and Growth (USD 200) | Active contacts from 1,000 on Growth and the higher plans, in blocks of 100 at USD 12 (Growth) or USD 15 (Advanced); additional users at USD 12, 20 and 24 a month; additional AI credits at USD 15 per 1,000 |
| Meta fees | Paid to Meta from your own account, with a 0% markup from HellouOne | Paid separately to Meta; their pricing page does not state whether there is a markup |
| Entry price | USD 49 a month (1 agent and an AI agent; USD 24 without AI) | From USD 79 a month billed yearly (Starter, 5 users) |
Because respond.io charges by active contacts and AI credits and HellouOne by agents and AI messages, compare with your real conversation volume. The respond.io figures are the yearly-billing ones; the HellouOne figures are monthly with no lock-in.
To see what it would be for your case, look at HellouOne's plans, talk to sales or try the inbox and the AI agent for 7 days with no card using the button on this page.
Is there a markup on Meta's WhatsApp fees?
HellouOne sends the charge to Meta from your own account and adds no markup: it is 0%. On respond.io, according to its pricing page as of November 2026 (see the sources), WhatsApp fees are not included in any subscription and Meta charges them based on your usage; that page does not state whether respond.io applies a markup.
What weighs most in your cost is the volume of templates you send. Since October 1, 2026, free-form replies are also charged per message after the first 1,000 a month per number. Estimate your spend with the WhatsApp pricing calculator before you compare plans.
What is the difference in AI voice: inbound calls or outbound campaigns?
HellouOne's AI voice agents have their own plans by minutes, from USD 499 a month for 2,300 minutes, with AI, voice and telephony in Colombia included. They answer inbound calls and run outbound campaigns with call windows, retries and a do-not-call list, transfer to your team with a summary and leave a transcript and recording of every call.
respond.io documents its voice agent as an AI agent that answers inbound calls. According to its help center (as of November 2026, see the sources), it does not support outbound calls, each call is capped at 3 minutes, a person cannot take over during a call (transferring it to an agent is supported) and publishing it live requires the Advanced plan or above.
A clarification to avoid confusion: HellouOne's voice agents handle phone calls. respond.io's voice agent handles WhatsApp, Messenger and VoIP (Telnyx) calls. If what you need is for AI to answer calls inside WhatsApp, that is respond.io's side.
- Outbound campaigns: HellouOne does; respond.io's voice agent does not support them.
- Inbound calls: both platforms answer them with AI.
- Duration: HellouOne bills per second from the moment the call is answered; respond.io caps each call at 3 minutes.
- Plan required: HellouOne, a voice plan of its own, separate from the inbox plan; respond.io, Advanced or above.
- Compliance in Colombia: HellouOne ships the Law 2300 of 2023 rules for collection calls, on by default.
HellouOne or respond.io in Spanish? Language, currency and focus on Colombia
HellouOne works in Spanish and English, and its AI agents answer in the language the customer writes in. It focuses on Colombia and Latin America: the voice agents speak Spanish from Colombia, Mexico, Spain and Latin America, there are six voices with a Colombian accent and the telephony included in the voice plans is Colombian. For the WhatsApp channel, the guide to the WhatsApp Business API in Colombia explains fees, requirements and data protection law.
respond.io also has a site in Spanish and charges in dollars, just like HellouOne (as of November 2026, see the sources). In text there is no language advantage for either: both serve customers in Spanish.
Neither respond.io nor HellouOne charges in Colombian pesos: both bill in dollars, so the peso value moves with each month's exchange rate.
When should you choose HellouOne?
HellouOne is the better fit in these cases:
- You want an AI agent included from USD 49 a month, billed monthly with no lock-in.
- You need an AI voice agent to make outbound calls in Colombia, with telephony included.
- You want WhatsApp, web chat and calls with the same AI agent and the same history.
- You prefer a 0% markup on Meta's fees, which you pay to Meta from your own account.
- You want to try the inbox and the AI agent for 7 days with no card (the WhatsApp channel connects when you pick a plan).
- You want to keep using the WhatsApp Business app on the same number while the team moves to the inbox (coexistence).
- You have a developer who will use the HellouOne API or its MCP server.
When might respond.io be a better fit?
respond.io may be a better fit in these cases, based on what it publishes on its site (as of November 2026, see the sources):
- You serve customers on many channels at once and want TikTok, Instagram and Facebook in the same inbox.
- You prefer a provider with a wide list of integrations, such as HubSpot, Salesforce, Zapier, Make and Shopify.
How do you compare them with your own operation in five steps?
A list-price comparison does not replace a test with your own conversations. Here is a way to do it in a week:
- Count how many people answer at the same time and how many new conversations you get per week.
- Decide whether you need a text AI agent, voice or both, and whether voice must make outbound calls.
- Work out the cost on each platform with your real volume, including additional users, contacts or AI messages and Meta's fees.
- Try both with their 7-day free trial (on HellouOne, the WhatsApp channel connects when you pick a plan) and load the same frequently asked questions into each AI agent.
- Compare how long setup takes, what the agent answers and how the conversation reaches a person.
If you already have a number connected on another platform, plan the switch with your team at a quiet time and ask your current provider for the steps to release it.
