A phone call ends, and then the moment cools off
An AI phone agent does good work on a call. It explains the offer, answers questions, and the customer says yes, send me that. Then the call ends, and someone on your team has to remember to write the message later, find the right template, and start a WhatsApp conversation by hand. Sometimes that happens in five minutes. Sometimes it happens the next day, or not at all, and a warm yes turns into a cold lead.
WhatsApp follow-up after an AI call, live in HellouOne since the October 29 production release, closes that gap inside the call itself. The AI agent can offer to send the caller a WhatsApp message, and when the caller clearly agrees, HellouOne sends it right away, with the template and the text your team approved in advance.
Consent first, checked against the caller's own words
This feature was built around consent, not around sending more messages. The follow-up is sent only after the caller clearly says yes. The system checks that yes against what the caller actually said before anything goes out, so a vague answer or a misunderstanding does not become a message. The AI never picks the number, the template, or the text on its own. The administrator sets all three, which means the model cannot improvise a promise, a price, or a recipient.
There are hard guardrails too. Only one follow-up is sent per call. It is never sent to opted-out, blocked, or do-not-call contacts. And it is never sent to United States numbers, the +1 country code, for TCPA reasons. Some outcomes never receive it at all, and wrong number and do-not-call are excluded by default.
Set it up once, in the agent's Voice tab
Administrators configure the follow-up where the agent itself lives. Go to Settings, then AI agents, open the agent, and find the WhatsApp follow-up card in the Voice tab. Turn on Offer to send a WhatsApp message, and then define exactly what the agent may offer.
You choose the WhatsApp inbox the message will come from. You choose an approved, text-only template, and its fields can be filled from the contact name, the campaign, the file columns your campaign already carries, or fixed text. You write the offer text the agent speaks on the call, and that text has rules: it must name the business and say WhatsApp, and it must not promise delivery. A message preview and a Check the follow-up button let you review the result before a real customer ever hears the offer.
Each AI campaign can follow the agent's setting or set its own, which is useful when one campaign should always follow up in writing and another should stay voice only.
The reply lands where your team already works
Sending is only half of a follow-up. The other half is what happens when the customer answers, and here the design is simple. Sent, delivered, read, and replied are all tracked. When the customer replies, that reply lands in the same WhatsApp conversation, inside HellouOne, where your human team can continue it like any other conversation. There is no separate tool to check and no thread lost between the call system and the chat system.
For managers, campaign reports and AI-call reports gain a WhatsApp follow-ups count and a filter, so you can see how many calls produced a written follow-up, and read exactly those conversations, without digging through every call one by one.
Who this helps most
Sales teams get the clearest win. A prospect who says yes on the phone receives the summary, the link, or the next step on WhatsApp while the conversation is still fresh, and can reply there at their own pace. Collections teams get the same benefit with payment details and agreements, in writing, confirmed on a channel the customer actually reads, instead of numbers spoken once on a call and forgotten. In both cases the pattern is the same: the voice call creates the agreement, and WhatsApp makes it durable.
If your HellouOne AI agents already make calls, open the Voice tab of one agent today and set up the follow-up. Pick one approved template, write an honest offer that names your business, check it with the preview, and let your next campaign turn phone yeses into written conversations automatically.
